Young Woman Eating A Healthy SaladThe raw food motivation is a conscious trend towards eating more locally grown whole vegetarian foods for heath and for the planet. This diet consists of fruits, vegetables, sprouted grains and legumes, seeds and nuts. Raw-vegan food is considered healthy because of its living enzymes. Since the enzymes in food aid in digestion and are destroyed at 118 degrees of heat, it is believed  that raising temperatures also deplete food of vitamins and minerals which is why cooked food is thought to lead to excessive food consumption in the body’s attempt to gain adequate nutrition.

Prepare for Success

Getting ready for a week of successful dieting is easier than you might think, when you prepare ahead of time.

Sundays are great days to map out your meals (and snacks!) for the week ahead.  When you’ve got healthy, prepared food choices at your fingertips, it’s much easier to stay on track.  So, grab a pencil, and write out your meals for the next 7 days.  You don’t have to be exact, and minor changes along the way are fine…REMEMBER “Progress not Perfection”.

Here are a few suggestions for Sunday Prepping…Cook, pre-wash, pre-cook, and pre-package the following:

  • Hard-boiled eggs — peel and separate whites for a great protein boost after a work out
  • Chicken — cooked and sliced for a quick hunger squelch er
  • Ground turkey — season and make turkey burgers for a fast dinner
  • Celery sticks — satisfy the desire to munch & crunch with individual bags of celery piled in the fridge
  • Bell peppers (green, red, yellow) — great to snack on or to add to almost any recipe for color and nutrients
  • Cantaloupe — a sweet and refreshing treat to add to your morning meal
  • Serving size of raw, unsalted nuts (this may only be 10-15) in individual baggies — great snack or add to salad
  • Brown rice — easy to heat up for a hearty breakfast or add to any meal for a healthy side dish

**many grocery stores already have fresh pre-washed and pre-cut fruits & veggies for your convenience.
